Details
Under broad supervision, handles claims of high exposure and complexity within specific limits and authority. Generally handles all standard line of business claims with complex coverage, including Bodily Injury claims.
Bachelors Degree Or Equivalent
10 Or More Years Of Related Experience
1. In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance legal and regulatory environment.
2. Possesses a functional and developing knowledge of the legal statutes and procedures.
3. Displays a thorough functional knowledge and skill of claims handling specific to assigned area working in (i.e.. workers compensation, casualty, property)
1. Verifies applicable coverage and liability.
2. Contacts insureds and claimants by phone. Gathers information germane to exposure and Best Practices and acts upon information received.
3. Provides updates to interested parties based on information contained in the file.
4. Interviews witnesses.
5. Sets appropriate reserves within authority level.
6. Assigns Auto Physical Damage appraisals.
7. Complies with Customer Protocol.
8. Documents claim files pursuant to Best Practices.
9. May have designated accounts.
10. Recognizes Subrogation and Fraud.
11. Must meet state license requirements within prescribed timeframe.
12. Anticipates, recognizes and responds to customer needs; supports implementation of customer initiatives.
13. Compares alternatives for solving problems or improving procedures or products and provides recommendations.
14. Provides technical expertise for short-term, defined scope projects.
15. Has designated accounts.
16. Manages low-level litigation.
17. Handles multi-party claims.
18. Negotiates settlements within authority limit.
19. Hires counsel; oversees litigation; negotiates litigiation settlements.
20. Serves as a mentor to lower level claims associates.
21. Provides technical advice that enables a customer to solve a problem or improve business.
22. Develops and maintains positive customer relationships; anticipates customer needs and monitors trends in order to recommend changes.
23. Resolves technical issues within function and/or unit.
24. Viewed as key resource in a given field for department and/or unit.25. Provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas.
26. Consults with key customers to enhance business; provides expert solutions for key customer(s); diagnoses and develops recommendations to solve unique business unit and customer problems.
27. Particpates in complex technical or long-term (over 6 months) business projects to implement new or changed systems, programs or products.
28. Manages complex litigation.
