Position Title: Bodily Injury Specialist, Mississauga
Position Purpose
Adjust and resolve moderate to complex automobile and homeowner's liability claims for policies.
Complete all necessary investigation to facilitate evaluation of the liability exposure, establish appropriate reserves and negotiate claims to resolution.
Key Accountabilities
*Conduct immediate and prompt investigations and evaluations of claims and complete evaluations of coverage, liability and damages in order to recommend and execute settlements
* Attend settlement meetings, mediations and pre-trials when necessary (some travel within and outside Ontario required)
* Resist fraudulent and non-threshold claims
* Demonstrate leadership qualities and provide technical assistance/mentoring to others when appropriate
* Review submitted documentation in a timely manner to ensure proper evaluation and settlement of claims
* Participate in training and team projects as required
* Coordinate with external service providers such as independent adjusters, private investigators, engineers, IBC investigative services, police, fire departments, lawyers and other stakeholders as well as internal departments (property, accident benefit and road adjusters) in order to ensure prompt and thorough investigations of all claims
* Firm commitment towards customer service and team work
* Maintain file notes, adjust reserves and make claims payments
* Perform administrative duties as required (i.e., sending letters, faxes, creating underwriting memos)
Knowledge / Experience
•Minimum of 2 years of directly relevant injury claims experience
•Knowledge and experience working with Bill’s 59 and 198.
•Strong negotiation, communication, investigation and time management skills.
•Works effectively both as an individual and as a team.
•Commitment to providing superior customer service.
•Computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Internet…).
•Knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
Preferred
•Minimum 2 to 5 years experience handling bodily injury claims.
•Completed CIP designation or within 3 courses of completion of this designation.
•East Coast License would be considered an asset.
