BI Claims Specialist - Edmonton Or Calgary

Our client, a large national insurance company, is currently seeking an Intermediate BI Claims Specialist for their Edmonton or Calgary office.

NOTE: The final location for this position may be in Edmonton or Calgary, depending on the suitability and availability of the candidate.

Job Description:

Examining, evaluating and negotiating settlement of Bodily Injury and Commercial Casualty files, including CGL, General Liability and motor vehicle in accordance with corporate guidelines with emphasis on direct negotiation and settlement with Third Parties, be they unrepresented claimants or Plaintiff's counsel.

Job Requirements:

• Assess coverage, direct handle and examine Bodily Injury and Commercial Casualty files.
• Control indemnity and expenses through proactive claims handling techniques.
• Retain and provide clear, concise instructions to Independent Adjusters and be able to assess when it is appropriate to remove them from a file.
• Meet or exceed Casualty targets and objectives.
• Evaluate and post accurate reserves and diary systems, utilizing InjuryManager.
• Conduct regular reviews of file strategy disposition plans and recommend creative alternatives for a timely resolution.
• Active participation in settlement meetings, mediations, mini-trials and JDRs.
• Complete Large Loss and Head Office reports in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and legal trends.
• Participate in Branch Audits and other assigned projects as required.

Experience/Skills required: 

• 5+ years previous experience handling bodily injury claims, commercial casualty, CGL, general liability claims, and auto tort liability.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of ADR processes and experience with same.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office and Lotus Notes applications.
