Our Client is a well-known Property/Casualty Insurance Company with offices located across Canada. This position is in their downtown Toronto office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE JOB Covering the Canadian Zone, and situated in the Toronto Branch, produce a high quality work product on low to mid-level Automobile Accident Benefit claims and mid-level Accident and Health claims through direct contact with insured's, claimants, policyholders and other related parties.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB •Analyze first report to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of injury/damage. •Conduct investigations of all aspects of reported claims, including securing all supporting documentation and verify same for accuracy, relationship and completeness. •Analyze medical, financial and other documentation to assess its impact on coverage and available benefits under the policy, and generally its impact on the claim. •Adhere to all statutory regulations and claims handling procedures and standards. •Establish accurate and timely reserves. Continuous monitoring to ensure reserve accuracy. •Seek technical assistance in handling claims exceeding delegated authority. •Maintain and monitor an active diary to record timely development of the file and timely disposition of the claim. •Promptly and properly document all developments in claim file. •Exercise good judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, damage, coverage provided and applicable limits. •Effectively negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate. •Effectively communicate with the Underwriting Departments, brokers, claimants, policyholders and other related parties. •Recognize and pursue loss transfer claims where applicable. •Effectively control the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors. •Participate in mediation and arbitration proceedings. •Such other duties as may be delegated by the Casualty Supervisor or Third Party Claim Manager
QUALIFICATIONS •2-3 years experience handling Ontario Bill 59 and Bill 198 Accident Benefit claims at an entry or mid-level •Experience handling CAH claims is preferred •High level of initiative and desire to learn •Proven customer service skills. •Assertiveness, confidence and proven teamwork skills •Excellent written and verbal communication skills. •Excellent time management and organizational skills. •Strong negotiation skills. •Ability and comfort in working independently and in a team environment
