SCOR Canada's Finance Department has an opening for a Controller. This is an excellent career opportunity for an energetic, service oriented, team player who has 6 plus years of accounting/finance experience in the P&C insurance industry. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and will be responsible for ensuring that the accounting/finance team produces timely, accurate and complete information for management and financial reporting purposes. .
The successful candidate will be detail orientated, well organized and posses strong written and oral communication skills. The candidate will perform well in a busy operation and remains calm under pressure. The candidate is a team player adaptable to a changing office environment. The candidate is required to have a CA, CMA or CGA designation, working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Job Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer • Responsible for ensuring the accounting platform supports the production of timely, accurate and complete information for management and financial reporting purposes. • Responsible for corporate/investment accounting; general ledger and accounts payable • Manage and supervise two corporate accountants • Interact with the external auditor • Ensure an effective internal control environment • Responsible for the preparation of IFRS financial statements (local, audited and notes) • Investment accounting – financial instruments standard • Quarterly income tax provision & annual T2 tax return • Quarterly and annual preparation and filing of P & C 1 • Quarterly preparation and filing of Statistics Canada • Quarterly submission of consolidation numbers to Head Office including Cash flow, Shareholders Equity and tax memo • GST estimate and annual filing
Skills and Knowledge:
• Require 6 plus years accounting and/or finance experience in the P & C industry • Strong system skills - Excel, People Soft, Business Objects, Magnitude (consolidation software) and Dimension (Investment software) preferred • Ability to provide hands on leadership • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Superior oral and written communication skills • Excellent time management and organizational skills. • Willing to do what is necessary to meet rigid deadlines • In-depth knowledge of Canadian GAAP investment and tax accounting • Working knowledge of IFRS • Designation required – CA/CMA/CGA
