Compliance Manager

Location: Toronto

My client is seeking an experienced and qualified professional to join their progressive and growing Managing General Agency (MGA) as compliance Manager. key responsibilities will be to ensure the Compliance of the MGA operation with Regulator and Insurer requirements and ensure these are adhered to within the workflow of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Role
  • Ensuring our license to operate in each Province and Territory are current and in good standing
  • Ensuring our approvals at Lloyd’s of London are current and in good standing.
  • Liaising with the CEO and CFO to ensure the work flow reflects the Regulator and Insurer requirements.
  • Ensuring that the documentation adheres to regulator and Insurer requirements.
  • Actively monitoring Insurer Premium and Aggregate limitations
  • Reviewing Retail Broker licence status
  • Peer Review and Audit functions
  • Ensuring Company Insurance requirements are current and in good standing
  1. Resource Management
  • Monitor each Underwriters compliance with Insurers requirements.
  • Monitor documentation compliance with Insurers requirements.
  • Report directly to Senior management

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree or certification
  • Developed knowledge and applied experience in the application of industry legislation and regulations; knowledge of industry objectives, trends and issues
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Lawyer or Notary designation an advantage
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Analytical capability.
  • Capable of making sound business decisions where there are areas of ambiguity
  • Possess excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to effectively multi-task
  • Displays confidence and composure under pressure
  • Able and motivated to work in cross-functional teams as well as independently
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal direction
  • Ability to motivate self and others
