Job Description

Exciting role with a great company.  My client is looking for a Technical expert on cases involving claim, policy and supplier fraud, and most categories of corporate fraud. Accountable for chairing decision panel meetings to evaluate evidence, consider jurisprudence and case law, and facilitate the disposition of all fraud cases having exposure that may: negatively impact a policyholder, claimant, broker or supplier; and/or add reputational or financial risk to the company.

Title: Fraud Litigation Specialist

Location: Markham


Fraud Case Management:

  • Review fraud cases and evaluate options for case disposition decisions
  • Review and analyze reports completed by lawyers and evidence examination experts
  • Provide direction to adjusters, underwriters, investigators and counsel on case management strategy and disposition – denial, negotiation, or settlement – pursuant to the company’s Fraud philosophy

Fraud Litigation Management:

  • For supplier and corporate fraud cases, oversee and lead committee decisions to commence, defend or resolve litigation
  • For claim and policy fraud cases, participate in claims litigation committee decisions to defend or resolve litigation
  • Ensure that appropriate fraud cases proceed to trial and that appropriate trial strategies are in place
  • Ensure that legal dispositions are consistent with overall fraud litigation strategies
  • Risk Management:
  • Provide the appropriate level of risk management in the company’s fraud management program using case decision-making or escalation authority

Participate in cross-functional initiatives that focus on fraud management issues

  • Excellent understanding of civil and criminal jurisprudence within Canadian provinces and territories related to fraud
  • Strong understanding of claims and underwriting processes
  • Technical knowledge of all insurance lines of business, including policies, claims, and related legislation
  • Investigative strategies and requirements/legislation
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
