HUB International in Toronto is currently looking for a strong Insurance Broker to act as the Account Associate working in close partnership with their assigned Account Team on Construction clients.  This role is focused on growth and retention of a book of mid-sized businesses.  If you have commercial lines insurance experience and are committed to delivering great customer service, then this might be the role for you!

Your knowledge and experience as a Commercial Broker with diverse accounts combined with your attention to detail and customer service focus are the keys to success in the role of Commercial Lines Account Associate.  This role is reporting Vice President, Commercial Lines and is responsible for providing support to the commercial lines team.

Responsibilities:                    

  • Provides our internal and external clients with prompt, courteous and professional service
  • Prepares client pre-renewal and renewal packages, policies, submissions, binders, letters, summaries and invoices in a timely manner
  • Analyzes client coverage, exposures and loss experience to determine risk requirements
  • Reviews policy wordings and other documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepares marketing submissions with responsibility for correspondence and negotiations with underwriters
  • Assists in collection of Accounts Receivables while adhering to HUB International file management standards
  • Calculates and invoices transactions. Prepare premium financing contracts and other monthly payment plan options
  • Reviews requirements and executes issuance of certificates of insurance
  • Works in partnership with Accounts Receivable on client collections actions on outstanding accounts while updating the Account Manager on status or required support.
  • Prepares marketing submissions with responsibility for correspondence and negotiations with underwriters
  • Participates in client renewal meetings
  • Provides suggestions for continuous improvements in workflows and procedures 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial Construction Insurance (Property, Builder’s Risk and Wrap-up Liability) as a Commercial Broker or Underwriter
  • RIBO Licensed
  • CIP/CAIB/CRM Designation required or in progress
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, time and client management skills
  • Effective communication skills: verbal and written
  • Strong team player
  • Proactive and customer focused approach
  • Strong initiative and follow up skills
  • Knowledge of diverse insurance policies and emerging insurance trends
  • Resourceful researching skills
