The Claims Specialist is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of moderate to high severity property claims while maintaining a high level of customer service.


  • Handling complex property claims and litigation files and general liability policies
  • Participating in settlement initiatives and mediations, and manage files held by defence counsel
  • Focusing on the investigation, coverage and liability issues on claims as well as guiding and directing independent adjusters and/or counsel for effective investigation and control
  • Completing reports for claims committee and reinsurers
  • Mentoring, coaching, and technical evaluation of property adjusters


  • Minimum 6 years of property claims handling experience
  • University or College degree or equivalent experience is required
  • CIP/FCIP/CRM required or in progress
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications is required
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of claims
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
