Job Description

Our client is Leading Reinsurance Company Looking for a contract wording Specialist.  This role will provide support to the P&C portfolio and will be responsible for analysis and recommendations which consistent with the company’s risk appetite and guidelines.

Title: Reinsurance Underwriting Wording Specialist

Location: Downtown (Work from home for time being)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consulting, training, research, and transactional contract wording drafting, reviewing, research and template development services
  • Review property, casualty, and professional liability reinsurance placement slips and contracts
  • Conduct primary insurance policy reviews, internal contract audits, and internal and external presentations
  • Develop and implement contract reviewing guidelines
  • Perform audits and provide sound recommendations to ensure business is underwritten in compliance with the company’s guidelines and policies
  • Negotiate reinsurance terms and conditions directly with clients, through brokers and in cooperation with Client Management
  • Advise senior management and underwriters of regulatory developments and emerging contract wording issues
  • Underwriting and assessment of treaty business
  • Ensure efficient coordination with internal stakeholders

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5+ years of reinsurance/insurance experience
  • University Degree
  • CIP/FCIP preferred
  • Demonstrated contract and wordings expertise in Canada across all lines of business
  • Well-developed analytical skills, highly motivated
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products and aptitude for new computer systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as analytical, organizational and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English and French is an asset
