The Opportunity:

Analytical.  Resourceful.  Multitasker.  If these are some of the words other people use to describe you, then we want to talk to you today.   As a Commercial Account Manager, your technical prowess will be heavily relied in your role as the “go-to” technical resource for our valued clients.  Your key day-to-day activities would typically include:

  • Developing underwriting data directly with potential and existing clients.  In-person visits to client sites are highly encouraged.
  • Identify risks and design comprehensive insurance programs in alignment with client objectives
  • Prepare submissions to be presented to the Marketing Broker
  • Review quotes and coverages in collaboration with the Marketing Broker, Client Executive and the client to determine best strategy to align with client objectives
  • Working with the Marketing Broker, prepare proposals, review terms, analyze wordings, and discuss the results of the Marketing effort
  • In collaboration with the Client Executive, present proposals, review terms, and provide expert advice directly to the client.
  • Issue invoices, Cover Notes and other deliverables as required.
  • Managing daily administration of client accounts (data entry into the BMS, correspondence, contract compliance, wordings review, policy documentation issuance)

Must haves:

  • Level II British Columbia Insurance License.
  • A minimum of 5 years commercial broking experience.
  • Broad knowledge of all lines of insurance coverage.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple files simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, paper-light environment
  • Very comfortable with technology.
  • Intermediate-level MS Word and Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently from wherever you have internet connection

  • Have developed specialized knowledge and experience in niche market segments
  • Vertafore SigXP experience
  • PolicyWorks
  • Salesforce, HubSpot or other CRM systems experience

 

Educational Requirements

  • CAIB or CIP (or working towards)
  • Graduates of BCIT’s General Insurance & Risk Management Program or similar post-secondary insurance program preferred
