Job Description

Our client is looking for a Private Client Specialist who will be managing the personal lines insurance needs of commercial clients.  

What you will be doing:   

  • The Private Client Specialist handles all types of personal insurance, pleasurecraft, and travel medical insurance, with a focus on Private Client.  

Additional Responsibilities:  

  • New Business/Renewals  
  • Demonstrate needs-based sales behavior, including reactive and tag-on selling, building additional relationships with new customers, asking for referrals, generating new business, and increasing customer retention 
  • Maintain a diary of prospective and current clients and follow-up on sales leads  
  • Build additional relationships with current customers, asking for referrals, generating new business and increasing customer retention 
  • Review and work renewal lists, contacting clients minimum 45 days in advance  
  • Ensure that all notes to file are completed after each transaction in a timely, accurate manner. Use of the Activity function is used and updated.  

Customer Service & Producer Support  

  • Provide friendly, professional service to customers and producers (if applicable)  
  • Handle routine customer and producer inquiries/concerns  
  • Take and report claims  
  • Return all customer inquiries in a timely manner  
  • Ensure work is prompt, efficient and accurate 

Administration  

  • Process payments 
  • Work accounts receivable lists 
  • Maintain expiration and abeyance files 
  • File/scan own files 
  • Ensure all documents are accurate and files are kept in an orderly manner   

Team Support 

  • Lead by example, being a positive role model 
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by working efficiently, professionally and in a friendly manner 
  • Improve our organization by sharing ideas and opinions, contributing and building communication in all directions and levels 
  • Assist others as needed and perform other duties as assigned 

Professional Conduct 

  • Maintain security in accordance with internal controls 
  • Adhere to binding authority 
  • Adhere to authorized underwriting guidelines and policies 
  • Adhere to guidelines and best practices set forth by the Insurance Council of British Columbia, and other licensing bodies as applicable 
  • At all times, respect the privacy and confidentiality of all customers and staff information 
  • Respect the importance of attendance and punctuality and the impact it has on the rest of the team 
  • Maintain safe workplace procedures as per WCB regulations 
  • Exemplify our corporate values as outlined in our Employee Handbook  

Continuous Learning 

  • Maintain and apply a working knowledge of all insurance products, keeping apprised of changes and enhancements to applicable insurance and company policies, procedures and products. 
  • Take additional educational credits relating to the ongoing mandatory requirements for the support of licensing renewal.  

Back-up Support 

  • Private Client services and sells with a “Team” approach, sharing a larger book of business in order to ensure high quality and consistent service to all clients. 
  • Provide back-up support to your “buddy” or “back-up team” as required, in the event of holidays, sick days, or other temporary absences. 
  • Back-up support includes responding to emails and phone-calls, handling client requests, and assisting with administrative duties, but does not include the regular processing of documents. 

What we are looking for:  

  • Level II General Insurance License  
  • 3 years’ experience in the field (preferred) 
  • Customer Service experience
