Title: Cyber Underwriting Specialist

Locations: Toronto


  • Underwrite and manage an existing Cyber portfolio of SME and Program business
  • Underwrite, assess risk and execute on strategic Cyber priorities
  • Provide technical expertise on Cyber products, services, and coverages
  • Assist front line underwriters to produce and underwrite profitable, new and renewal business
  • Build a long-term cyber business strategy
  • Drive change management by institutionalizing underwriting, service and process improvements
  • Lead learning and development opportunities on cyber for front line underwriters to develop new business and grow the business profitably
  • Participate in development of overall strategy
  • Assists AVP in the implementation of strategic measures
  • Act as a go-to resource based on expertise and knowledge
  • Grow Portfolio GWP by conversion to new product
  • Grow net-new PIF measured rolling month to month
  • Establish network of cyber champions with stakeholders
  • Deploy authority to achieve growth and conversion objectives
  • Develop strategy for program business development


  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience in cyber underwriting
  • 8 years + experience in underwriting
  • Knowledge of underwriting in Cyber/Tech
  • Proven marketing abilities and established relationships with brokers
  • A proven decision maker with sound judgement, accompanied with ability to take well calculated risks
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner to develop long-term relationships with internal and external business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple areas of the company and industries
  • Strong business acumen and organizational skills
  • Experience in creating a sales and marketing plan
  • Ability to work independently
