Job Description

Our client is a leading national brokerage seeking a technical superstar who is a savant with contracts!  Going through agressive growth, this is a newly created strategic level position for someone to be the right hand person of the President of the department.  This is a great opportunity to join a well respected organisation and being the face of one of their most successful divisions. 

 

Ideally this position is based in Vancouver, but with 25+ offices, our Client will consider any location nationally for the right candidate! But there may be some periodic travel required to Vancouver if you are not a local candidate. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Actively negotiate with insurers to ensure terms are in line with market conditions
  • Ensure existing are kept operationally healthy and all obligations are being met.
  • In tandem with the Operations and Underwriting Teams, ensure compliance with reporting guidelines.
  • Constantly pursue new property support from domestic and international markets
  • Create new delegated underwriting agreements for the various realty insurance programs
  • Engage with intermediaries (wholesale brokers, reinsurance brokers and other niche distributors) to access new and unique capacity
  • Develop new capacity for new and innovative products so the sales teams become stronger and more capable.
  • Establish new trading relationships. Meet and negotiate preferred relationships
  • Promote a strong regional understanding of insurance marketplace conditions to support sales strategy. 
  • Assist with developing an innovative marketing strategy for challenging placements.
  • Establish appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk.

 

The ideal person will have:

  • MGA/underwriting/broking experience.
  • Possess and demonstrate strong relationships with Insurers.nd the insuranccccce market.
  • Demonstrable track record of profitable underwriting and generating business growth;
  • Demonstrable experience in writing and executing business plans;
  • Strong analytic skills and numerical aptitude will be essential;
  • Broad operational skills and experience in an underwriting environment, including budgetary management, financial management, claims, resource allocation;
  • Ability to travel for business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to work well in a team environment.
