Now Hiring – Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


The future amalgamated Salus Mutual Insurance Company has an exciting opportunity
for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
to join our growing team!

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Financial Officer will manage the Finance Department, including day-to-day operations, workflows, and service delivery practices by providing effective supervision, guidance, and assistance to team members. The Chief Financial Officer will also use sound financial/accounting, business, and risk management knowledge and practices to monitor Company profitability through acceptable financial ratios.

The ideal candidate will ensure reconciliation of bank, credit card, and investment accounts are handled within required timelines. The Chief Financial Officer will also prepare department reports for internal and external use and conduct timely data analysis and policy development/research, as required (e.g., P&C1, Market Conduct Review Report, budget, reinsurance, Board of Directors, audit reports, etc.).

Position Requirements:

  • Professional designation and/or a postsecondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., business, finance, etc.)
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation an asset
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, or completion of most CIP courses an asset
  • Minimum ten years of related experience
  • Minimum three years of managerial experience
  • Detailed knowledge of reinsurance procedures
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Knowledge of IFRS-17 requirements an asset
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience in strategic planning and business development an asset
  • Understanding the mutual insurance system and its philosophy an asset
  • Experience with insurance software an asset
