Are you an enthusiastic and knowledgeable insurance professional looking for an exciting opportunity? Our valued client has a 2 full-time positions for a Commercial Lines (Auto) Underwriter in Edmonton.   As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will play a vital part in driving our portfolio's profitability and growth by adeptly underwriting risks.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be engaged in a range of dynamic tasks that directly contribute to the success of our organization:

  • Evaluate quote requests and applications to assess risk acceptability, determine policy terms, and establish appropriate rates for new business.
  • Skillfully handle renewals, endorsements, and cancellations through comprehensive review and processing.
  • Strategically utilize facultative reinsurance for risks that exceed our capacity.
  • Provide valuable underwriting guidance and promptly address inquiries from brokers.
  • Foster collaboration with personal lines, claims, and accounting departments to address shared concerns.
  • Strengthen relationships with brokers by facilitating in-person meetings to discuss underwriting strategies, enhance public relations efforts, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Stay informed about industry trends by attending relevant industry functions.
  • Embrace a flexible approach by taking on various other duties as needed.

Qualifications We're Looking For:

We're seeking a qualified individual who can bring their expertise and energy to our client's team. The following qualifications are essential for excelling in this role:

  • Preferred possession of a CIP/FCIP designation or actively working towards achieving one.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of current market and industry trends.Strong interpersonal skills, combined with impeccable organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Advantageous prior experience in a similar underwriting role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in understanding policy wordings and applying rating guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
