Senior Property Claims Adjuster - 9691

(Visiting Client Sites from London, ON to Chatham, ON and working Remotely)

 

We're on the lookout for a driven Senior Property Claims Adjuster to join our client’s growing claims team.  If you want to make a real impact in the communities they serve, we want to speak with you!  If you're a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for tackling a wide range of property claims including residential, farm and commercial—this is the role for you.

 

As a Senior Property Claims Adjuster, you'll play a key role in the claims process, stepping in when policyholders need assistance the most. You'll be responsible for investigating, assessing, and adjudicating moderate to complex first-party property claims. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring a smooth and efficient process for those relying on your support.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support policy holders with personal service when they are experiencing a loss
  • Scope and assess damages to various property types and provide feedback to contractors
  • Assess estimates and scopes of work to validate information from investigations of the claims
  • Interpret policy wordings to determine where coverage applies to a loss
  • Provide detailed technical knowledge on open and active claims files
  • Document the claim file throughout the investigation within the insurance software
  • Attend loss locations to investigate cause of loss, damages and coverage issues, when required
  • Assist with the development and training of junior adjusters
  • Guide team members through development and transitions into expanding roles
  • Demonstrate professionalism, a strong work ethic, accountability and commitment to excellence
  • Assist in the development of departmental best practices while actively using them

 

Key Qualifications & Attributes

  • Post Secondary Education in Business, Finance, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Designation or proven progression towards it
  • 8+ years of related experience in the adjudication of residential, commercial and farm property claims either on a desk or in the field
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to drive change, optimize processes and help drive the team toward achieving business objectives
  • Experience with adjudication of total loss fire claims, severe water loss, CAT losses, business interruption losses and livestock losses
  • Leadership qualities and skilled at problem-solving and decision-making
  • Results oriented and forward thinking with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-directed and technically strong understanding of building construction materials, scoping techniques, estimating methods and critical analysis on moderate to complex losses and their respective damage assessments
  • High integrity and compliance-focused, committed to ethical decision-making and regulatory adherence
  • Detail oriented with knowledge and understanding of property policy wordings
  • Experienced with training and development of junior and intermediate adjusters
  • Adaptable and progressive, thriving in evolving environments
  • Collaborative and passionate about contributing to a high performance team culture
  • Knowledge of reinsurance practices and industry best practices
  • Capable of working effectively across departments to come to the best possible outcome for the client and company
  • Understanding of the salvage process would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Insurance Software and Business Technology tools
  • Valid Driver’s Licence, willing and able to travel as needed for business as well as access to reliable transportation
