Job Description
Our client is growing, and they’re looking for a Commercial Lines Property Underwriter to join the team based out of their Edmonton office.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in building a profitable and sustainable commercial property portfolio, with a strong emphasis on new business. You’ll collaborate closely with brokers and internal partners while applying sound underwriting judgment to assess risk, set terms, and drive smart growth.
What you’ll be doing:
? Underwriting new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations
? Assessing risk acceptability, coverage terms, and pricing
? Placing facultative reinsurance when risks exceed capacity
? Providing underwriting guidance and support to brokers
? Partnering with claims, personal lines, and accounting teams
? Building broker relationships through visits, industry events, and collaboration
What you’ll bring:
• 3+ years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience
• Strong knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
• Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
• CIP/FCIP designation (or working toward) is an asset
