  • Analyze and negotiate treaty wordings to identify and mitigate coverage, aggregation, and exposure risks.
  • Partner closely with the Pricing & Modelling team to align underwriting judgment with technical pricing, catastrophe, and accumulation analysis.
  • Act as a technical authority, providing expert guidance on complex underwriting decisions, contract interpretation, and portfolio implications.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, identifying trends, emerging risks, and profitability drivers, and recommending strategic actions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience in the reinsurance industry, with a strong focus on property and casualty treaty business.
  • Solid understanding of the full treaty underwriting process — receiving and analyzing submissions, pricing, negotiating terms with brokers, and meeting with cedants.
  • Strong property treaty underwriting background (casualty/liability experience is a plus but not required).
  • Ability to exercise independent underwriting authority and escalate complex matters with clear analysis and well-supported recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced insurance credentials (CIP, FCIP) and/or a relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • Short-term incentive (bonus), tied to individual and organizational performance goals
  • Defined benefit pension plan
  • Comprehensive employer-paid health and dental benefits
  • Annual healthcare spending account.
