Job Description

Bilingual Senior Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst

Location: Remote - Canada (anywhere)

About the Opportunity

Our client is a national group benefits carrier with a strong reputation for operational excellence and a culture that genuinely invests in its people. This is a unique hybrid role that sits at the intersection of group underwriting expertise and process innovation, ideal for a senior underwriter who has naturally gravitated toward training others, improving tools, and driving consistency across a team.

As the Senior Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst, you will lead documentation, process, and training initiatives that directly shape how the underwriting team operates day to day. This is not a traditional pricing role, it’s an opportunity to step into a position of broader organizational influence while staying close to the technical work you know well.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and implement best practice initiatives across the group underwriting function
  • Design and facilitate training programs for underwriting staff at all experience levels, from entry-level through senior
  • Conduct quality reviews of complex underwriting cases and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maintain, improve, and support a suite of underwriting tools, templates, and calculators
  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) when tools and systems are updated
  • Release the monthly internal underwriting bulletin as required
  • Act as a liaison with internal partners including Finance, IT, and operational teams
  • Contribute to and lead internal mini-projects as required
  • Support and mentor the Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive group underwriting experience, including exposure to various funding arrangements
  • A solid understanding of customer needs, underwriting processes, and how they connect to the broader business
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and make practical recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt messaging for different audiences
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • High degree of initiative, accountability, and follow-through
  • GBA designation is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism in French and English is required

What's On Offer

  • Base salary up to $100, 000, commensurate with experience
  • Short-term incentive plan
  • 4 weeks vacation
  • Employer-paid health and dental benefits from day one
  • Registered Pension Plan (RPP) + RRSP
  • 8 paid sick days + 3 paid personal/family days
  • Benefits
  • Fully remote with optional in-office access
