Job Description

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Personal Insurance Broker to step into an established personal lines book following the retirement of a longtime team member. This is a replacement hire, not a net-new position, and the successful candidate will assume responsibility for a mid-sized book that is considered fairly typical for the office.

This role is based in Calgary and can be housed out of one of two local office locations. The successful hire will be expected to work in office initially while they get established in the role, build familiarity with the book, and ensure a smooth transition for clients. Longer-term flexibility may be considered for the right individual once they have demonstrated strong knowledge, reliability, and the ability to work independently.

This position is well suited to someone who can get up to speed quickly, provide continuity of service, and become a dependable part of a collaborative office environment.

The Employer

Our client is a well-established insurance brokerage with a stable team and low turnover. The office values collaboration, informal learning, and the day-to-day exchange that comes from working together in person. This is an opportunity to join a team-oriented environment where client relationships and consistency of service are highly valued.

About You

You are a personal lines insurance professional with brokerage experience and the ability to step into an active book with minimal disruption. You are client-focused, organized, and confident managing day-to-day service needs across an existing portfolio.

You enjoy building relationships, responding to client needs, and working closely with colleagues and insurer partners to support retention and service excellence. You are comfortable in a collaborative office setting and bring a dependable, team-oriented approach to your work.

Necessary Qualifications Include

  • Brokerage experience in personal lines insurance

  • Ability to take over and manage an existing book of business

  • Strong client service skills and relationship management ability

  • Experience handling renewals, endorsements, coverage changes, and ongoing client inquiries

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A collaborative approach and comfort working in an in-office team environment

  • Experience with PowerBroker considered a strong asset

What You’ll Be Doing

Compensation

Expected base salary is approximately $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.

Additional Context

  • The book has been described as medium-sized and fairly average for the office

  • Exact book figures were not available

  • Traditional premium benchmarks were noted to be less useful in the current market environment

  • A formal job description is still to come
