The Regional Municipality of Durham (RMD) was formed from the January 1, 1974 amalgamation of eight surrounding municipalities. The 1000 square mile area is home to a population in excess of 531,000. A reputation as a strong player within the manufacturing industry, coupled with a significant increase in residential development has facilitated the emergence of a populace rich in utilities, efficient transportation, and social constitution comparable to major urban cities. RMD is committed to provide its community with leadership, coordination, and service excellence.
