Given the recent appointment of the incumbent into an AVP role, an opportunity exists for a new, talented team leader to contribute to an organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of 1 in 3 British Columbians.

Reporting to the Chief Actuary & AVP of Underwriting, the Director, Group Underwriting is responsible for providing strategic oversight and management to the underwriting team. The Director is responsible for ensuring underwriting profitability for PBC’s block of business through appropriate pricing, policies, governance, and practices.  The Director actively collaborates with the Sales department to help acquire and retain clients and is critical to supporting new sales and revenue growth targets.

The ideal candidate brings at least seven years of progressively more responsible underwriting experience in life, health or disability, ideally with group business, preferably including three years at a management level.  Alternatively, they could be in a benefit consulting firm. Innovative and strategic, the preferred candidate has the business mindset to profitably manage margins, and the creativity to support product innovation to address client needs. This is a highly influential role that will appeal to energetic leaders keen to make an impact on the overall business.
