Notre client est un petit cabinet de courtage spécialisé offrant une expertise pointue en droit des assurances, en vices cachés immobiliers et en droit de la construction. Le cabinet ne représente jamais d'assureurs, mais plutôt des PME et des particuliers dans un contexte entrepreneurial, loin de la bureaucratie et des ressources des grands cabinets. En pleine croissance, il recherche un professionnel de la responsabilité civile des entreprises comme vous pour rejoindre son équipe soudée à son bureau de Deux-Montagnes.
Nous recherchons un avocat plaideur expérimenté (environ 15 ans d'expérience au total, dont 7 ans dans un domaine de spécialisation) souhaitant s'impliquer directement dans toutes les étapes de ses dossiers : analyse, stratégie, recherche de preuves, négociation et plaidoirie. Le candidat idéal gérera ses dossiers de manière autonome, de leur ouverture à leur conclusion, et saura privilégier les règlements amiables par le biais de modes alternatifs de règlement des différends ainsi que les procédures contentieuses lorsque cela s'avère nécessaire.

A competitive base salary starting at $200,000/year and up, negotiable based on experience. Hourly wage, not billable.

What you bring:
Defending subcontractors in subrogation claims and warranty claims following losses.
Civil liability claims against subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
Contractual actions related to refusal of payment for work, legal construction hypothec claims, and seizure of payment.
Drafting and analyzing construction contracts with an emphasis on risk prevention and management.
Exclusive representation in claims against insurers for refusal or insufficient compensation following losses covered by property insurance policies.
Claims for construction defects or flaws affecting buildings, primarily for individual clients.
Managing, with the support of senior management and the team of legal assistants, significant and complex cases in insurance law, civil liability, latent defects, and construction law, including large-scale projects.
Representing clients before the Court of Quebec and the Superior Court.
Drafting procedures, managing documentary evidence, conducting pre-trial examinations, and preparing expert and factual witnesses.
Quickly taking over an existing portfolio of cases at various stages of development.
Managing new cases from the initial claim notification through to judgment, ensuring: fact analysis, development of legal theory, evidence preservation, third-party involvement, assessment of expert needs, and supervision of expert mandates.
Demonstrating recognized expertise in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution methods (mediation, settlement conferences, negotiation of structured settlements, drafting of agreements).
Who are you?
You are a member of the bar
You have at least 15 years of experience as a lawyer, including at least 7 years in Corporate Liability
You have knowledge of the construction industry and its specialized terminology
You are able to lead and coordinate experts (engineers, architects, appraisers, building experts)
You have a strong grasp of the technical aspects of construction projects and the ability to quickly understand them
Bilingualism (French/English) is required
