Associate Vice President, Branch Operations (Insurance)

The Opportunity

A leading, multi-branch insurance organization is seeking an experienced Associate Vice President, Branch Operations to oversee and elevate operations across Southern Alberta.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational performance, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting revenue growth across multiple branch locations. The successful candidate will be based in Calgary and will travel regularly to branch offices to ensure consistency, collaboration, and execution of strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership across multiple branch locations within Southern Alberta

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Branch Managers and Lines of Business leaders

  • Drive employee engagement, retention, and performance across all teams

  • Ensure branches are appropriately staffed and operating efficiently

  • Monitor and improve branch-level performance related to growth, profitability, client retention, and service delivery

  • Review operational and financial results with branch leadership on a regular basis

  • Identify and remove operational barriers between departments and locations to improve collaboration

  • Partner closely with executive leadership to support regional initiatives and strategic priorities

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to align operational support with growth and retention goals

  • Support integration efforts related to acquisitions and organizational change

  • Maintain strong relationships across personal lines, commercial lines, private client, and benefits teams

  • Ensure receivables, endorsements, and operational controls are maintained

  • Promote best practices and operational consistency across branches

  • Participate as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to regional and national initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience within the insurance industry

  • Demonstrated success in people leadership across multiple teams or locations

  • Strong operational, financial, and performance management capability

  • Experience leading through change and navigating complex organizational structures

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, operations, and executive leadership

  • CAIB designation required

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field preferred

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly (up to 50%)
